Wages, salaries grow by 4.6% in Q2

The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 4.6 per cent greater in the April to June period than in the corresponding period of one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In June, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy grew by 4.3 per cent from the year before. One year previously, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy increased by 2.0 per cent.

The wages and salaries sum grew in all main industries in April to June. The wages and salaries sum grew fastest in the industries of other services (6.6%), construction (6.4%), private health and social work (6.2%), financial intermediation (5.0%) and manufacturing (3.9%). The increase in the wages and salaries sum was most moderate in the industries of trade (3.1%) and private education (2.6%).

Wages and salaries sum grew by 5.8 per cent in the private sector in April to June from one year back.

The wages and salaries sum in the private sector was 5.8 per cent greater in April to June than twelve months earlier. The wages and salaries sum of the public sector was 2.7 per cent higher than in the corresponding period one year previously. In June, the wages and salaries sum in the private sector increased by 5.6 per cent and in the public sector by 2.3 per cent from one year earlier. In the April to June period one year ago, the wages and salaries sum grew by 4.4 per cent in the private sector, while in the public sector the wages and salaries sum decreased by 2.3 per cent year-on-year.
