Real estate maintenance costs raises 1.6% in Q2

Real estate maintenance costs rose by 1.6 per cent in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the corresponding period of 2017, according to Statistics Finland.

Of the cost items of the index of real estate maintenance, renovation costs increased most, by 2.7 percent. Heating costs increased second most, by 1.8 per cent. The costs of waste management went up by 1.6 per cent, cleaning costs by 1.5 per cent, electricity costs by 1.4 per cent, costs of maintenance of outdoor areas by 1.2 per cent, administration costs by 1.1 per cent and use and maintenance costs by 0.9 per cent. Water supply and sewage costs decreased by 0.3 per cent year-on-year.

Examined by building type, the costs of industrial buildings went up most, by 2.3 per cent. The costs of day care centres increased by 1.8 per cent, the costs of school buildings by 1.7 per cent, the costs of health care centres and wholesale and retail trade buildings by 1.6 per cent. The costs of residential blocks of flats and office buildings rose by 1.4 per cent year-on-year for both types.

The total index of real estate maintenance rose by 0.4 per cent from the previous quarter.
