New car registration slides by 13.6% in January

A total of 18,346 new motor vehicles were registered in January 2019, of which 13,631 were automobiles, according to Statistics Finland.

First registrations decreased by 4.7 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

In January the number of new private cars registered was 11,732, which was 13.6 per cent down from the year before. The share of new diesel-driven passenger cars was 23.9 per cent.

The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.

The most common private car made first registered in January 2019 were Toyota, Skoda and Volvo.

The most common private car models were Skoda Octavia, Ford Focus, Volvo XC60, Toyota Auris and Nissan Qashqai.
