The Lapland Chamber of Commerce will organise the 10th Arctic Business Forum in May 9-10 in Rovaniemi to take stock of the latest global and local developments in Arctic business.
This year’s forum, themed “Responsible Growth in the Arctic”, returns to Rovaniemi again after the previous two forums were held in Kemi in 2017 and 2018.
The registration for the forum, which began in late February, will continue till the first week of May, the organizers said. Early-bird registration, which will run till March 15, will get a discount.
The early bird registration fee has been set at 483.6 euros a person, including VAT, and the normal registration fee is 607.6 euros a person. Registration fee for students has been set at 124 euros.
Lapland Chamber members can register for 409.20 euros a per son in the early-bird registration category and for 558 euros a person, including VAT, in the normal category.
The fees cover participation for both days, with lunch and coffee, and a copy of the Arctic Business Forum Yearbook 2019.
Terming the forthcoming forum a really big event this year, the Lapland Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Timo Rautajoki said that preparations were all under way to make the event successful.
“One of the main topics is cooperation with the Arctic Economic Council, which is scheduled to meet in Rovaniemi at the same time. Ambassador Jari Vilén, the senior advisor on Arctic policy matters in the European Political Strategy Center, the in-house think-tank of the European Commission, is also preparing report to Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of EU on the Arctic policy and he is one of our keynote speakers,” Rautajoki told Daily Finland.
He also pointed out that the registration fee has been reduced this year to encourage a greater participation.
“This Arctic week, which begins with the ministerial meeting of the Arctic Council, is important to Lapland and Rovaniemi. We are looking into all options for people to take part in the process,” the Chamber president added.
The Acrtic Business Forum is an international event that draws companies and business-related stakeholders from Finland and abroad. Special attention is paid to strengthening business-to-business cooperation by organising B2B meeting points and business-pitch sessions.
The forum evaluates the development of international Arctic business cooperation in the changing political situation. The Arctic Business Forum Yearbook 2019 will also be launched at the event.
The forum will review, among other things, infrastructure, transport and connectivity, responsible use of natural resources and latest updates on cross-border cooperation.
