2 pandas get Finnish names before arrival

Two pandas scheduled to be brought to the Ähtäri zoo have been given the Finnish names of Pyry and Lumi.
The local media outlet MTV organised a public vote on the Finnish names for the pandas.
The original name of the male panda is Hua Bao and the female one Jin Bao Bao. Their original names will also be used.
The MTV received over 4,000 suggested names.
The jury nominated names which were later voted by the public. The proposed names included Akseli, Elina, Ansa, Tauno, Hilma, Onni, Kullannuppu, and Puhti.
The pandas are scheduled to arrive in the middle of February.
