The 3rd China-Finland Principals (Basic Education) Forum will begin at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi on Monday.

About 100 participants from China and Finland are expected to participate in the two-day forum organised by the Finland-China Education Association (FICEA) in cooperation with the University of Lapland.

“Around 50 Chinese principals, teachers, and honoured guests will come and attend the forum,” said Xueting Yu, one of the organisers.

This year, the forum will be held in Rovaniemi with the main theme “Review Finnish New Curriculum Reform & Prospect Future Education Design”, said Yu, adding that the forum will focus on analysing the most updated outcome of Finnish new curriculum reform and the transversal competence nurturing results in 2016.

“We will discuss key issues such as school management, leadership reframe, curriculum design, and learning environment design in depth,” said Yu.

Pointing out the aim of the forum, the organisers said in addition to international communication, cooperation, as well as building a development platform, the aim is to build a face-to-face communication platform for each country to share their success and challenges.

“However, first we will have to confirm Rovaniemi as our forum location. We would like to exert an impact in the north of Finland and the academic circle would take its touristic advantage for Finnish Educational Export,” said Dora Wen, the coordinator of the project.
