41 held during demonstration in Paris

Violence erupted during an extreme left anti-labor law demonstration held in western Paris on Thursday, 41 people have been arrested, said the Paris police prefecture.

Police say a group of 80 people, with 30 of them hooded, Thursday morning set three cars on fire and destroyed four others, in the fringe of human resources managers congress in the Bois de Boulogne, western Paris.

The sabtage triggered a standoff between riot police and hard left demonstrators, who were in an "undeclared rally" against labor new code.

Police accused the demonstrators of "throwing projectiles on law enforcement officers, carrying a prohibited weapon, and participating in a mob when carrying arms."

The clashes, with no victims reported so far, have led to 41 arrests made by police, said the police statement.
