Lithuania to put excise tax on e-cigarettes

The Lithuanian parliament on Friday decided to introduce excise taxes on electronic cigarettes, local news agency Elta reported.

It was decided to put excise taxes on "heat-not-burn" tobacco product and liquids for electronic cigarettes from March 2019, with one millilitre of e-liquid to be taxed 0.12 euro and one kg of "heat-not-burn" tobacco product to 68.6 euros.

The draft amendments submitted by the Finance Ministry were adopted with 79 votes in favour, with no votes against and 16 abstentions.

Excise taxes on other tobacco products were also raised with a 20 pcs-cigarette package costing 0.11 euro more and 30 grams of smoking tobacco 0.3 euro more. And the price of a package of 10 cigarillos will increase 0.12 euro.
