Eight men have been arrested early on Sunday following a suspected anti-Semitic attack in Berlin, German media Die Welt reported.
The eight men, all of Syrian origin, are said to have beaten a Jewish Syrian.
The victim had asked the group for fire for his cigarette. One of them discovered a jewel in the form of a Star of David on the man's necklace, which led to the attack, according to Die Welt.
Die Welt cited a spokesman for the Berlin police who confirmed the case as well as investigation of the responsible.
The victim had been treated on an outpatient basis.
