A university pharmacy in Pori reportedly sold used insulin needles to diabetic patients, reports the Finnish language daily Satakunnan Kansa.

The pharmacy manager claimed it was an accidental mistake and told the daily that the error was detected half an hour after the needles had been sold.

According to the pharmacy manager, an internal investigation into the event is now under way.

The used needles were probably returned to the pharmacy in their original carton, which later got mixed with unopened cartons of fresh needles.
