Prime Minister Sanna Marin has been rated as the most popular PM of the country in this century keeping others far behind, according to a survey conducted by a Finnish language news consortium Uutissuomalainen.

About 33 percent respondents considered the SuomenSosialidemokraattinenPuolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) leader, Marin, also the youngest ever Premier of the country as the best among the Prime Ministers of 2000s, said the Uutissuomalainen report, quoting the survey.

Former Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen (1995-2003), another leader of SDP secured second position in the survey with 13 percent support followed by SuomenKeskusta (Centre Party of Finland) leaders and former Prime Ministers Matti Vanhanen and Juha Sipilä who jointly secured third place with eight percent support.

Professor of Political Science Heikki Paloheimo told Uutissuomalainen that the government´s performance to tackle the coronavirus situation may impacted positively to increase the popularity of the present Prime Minister.

The popularity of Marin, however, was lower among the high-income group people, who earned annually more than 100,000 euros. The high earners supported the KansallinenKokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP) leaders and former Prime Ministers, Jyrki Katainen and Alexander Stubb.

Three former Prime Ministers Antti Rinne (SDP), Mari Kiviniemi (Keskusta) and Anneli Jäätteenmäki (Keskusta), who held the post for less than one year, were considered as the least popular with less than one percent support.

A total of 1,000 respondents participated in the survey and the results were published with 3.1 percent margin error.
