Another round of negotiation to prevent paper industry industrial action is set to take place on Sunday, reported local media.

The news of the consultation was confirmed by National Conciliator Minna Helle.

Helle met with the disputing parties Trade Union Pro and Finnish Forest Industries on Tuesday.

About 3,000 employees will participate in the strike according to Trade Union Pro. The employer representative Finnish Forest Industries puts the figure at 2,400 employees.

According to Trade Union Pro, the reason for the paper industry’s industrial action is the employers’ unreasonable demands for reductions in an industry that has excellent productivity and profitability.

The workers will begin a one-week strike next week if negotiations prove unsuccessful.
