Virolainen sworn in, Mykkänen takes over new assignment

The newly appointed Interior Minister, Kai Mykkänen and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Anne-Mari Virolainen on Monday took over the new offices.

The President approved their appointments after the government officially decided the new appointments, said an official press release.

The Government session started with the swearing in of Minister Virolainen, who also took a judicial oath of office.

Kai Mykkänen, who has been serving as Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, has been shifted to the Ministry of Interior.

Earlier, on February 6, the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) decided to appoint its MP Anne-Mari Virolainen as the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, replacing Kai Mykkänen.

Meanwhile, Mykkänen was given the responsibility of the Minister for the Interior, a portfolio left by Paula Risikko who became the Speaker of Parliament on February 5.
