Protection for endangered species demanded

Representatives of birds associations have called for immediate measures to save the highly endangered bird, the Common porchard, the local media reported.

According to conservation organization Birdlife spring meeting declaration, the associations want the transfer of the endangered bird from the hunting law to become a species protected by law.

Furthermore, the associations have demanded significant improvement in the management of the country's most important bird habitats.

The Common porchard is threatened by, above all, the destruction of the habitat. Overgrown wetlands has also weakened the living conditions of the bird species.
