Police on Monday arrested some 20 people who had tried to occupy a segment of a busy road in downtown Helsinki.

The Mannerheimtie Street was one of the key routes used by the motorcades of delegations attending the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.

The attempt was made near the Kiasma art museum, half a kilometer from the Finlandia Hall that served as the press center.

Media reports said the detainees were anarchists, and the police used a bus to take them away. Senior police inspector Pekka Hook told a Finnish language newspaper Helsingin Sanomat there were no other arrests during the summit.

The most visible demonstration against the summit on Monday was the procession to underline women's reproductive rights.
