Niinistö to meet with Putin in Russia on Aug 22

President Sauli Niinistö will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Sochi on August 22, said a press release issued by the Finnish president office on Friday.

The meeting will be held at Putin´s Sochi residence during the visit of Finnish President to Russia.

The Presidents will discuss current international, regional and bilateral topics.

Following their discussion, they will hold a joint press conference.

The two presidents of the neighbouring countries met in Helsinki on July 16 during the Helsinki summit where Putin met USA president Donald Trump.

Niinistö met with Putin several times during the recent period when tense prevailed between the European Union and Russia following Crimea crisis. Putin visited Savonlinna, Finland, in 2017.
