Susi Mainen and Martin Otcenas won the fifth edition of the Summer biathlon Festival ended on Sunday at the Carnia Arena International Biathlon.Centre in Forni Avoltri , Italy, said a press release.

During the second leg of the Single Mixed Relay the couple compose by the Swiss and the Slo-vak biathletes was already at the first place with a strong advantage to the other athletes.

The young Italian rising star Irene Lardschneider and Dominik Windisch arrived at the second place and Michela Carrara and Lukas Hofer won the bronze medal.

Nicole Gontier and Giuseppe Montello arrived at the forth place, while Alexia Runggaldier and Michael Durand got the fifth place.

Thirteen position for Lisa Vittozzi and Luca Ghiglione. The Finnish champion Kaisa Mäkäräinen together with her partner Andreas Plaickner arrived at the eleventh place.

Before the race one of the most important moment of the Summer Biathlon Festival was the offi-cial inauguration of the Carnia Arena International Biathlon Centre at Piani di Luzza.

This centre has become a FISI training centre and it will host the Italian skiroll cross-country championships in September.

The Deputy Mayor of Forni Avoltri, Manuele Ferrari, the vice-president of FISI Alberto Piccin and the President of the Province of Udine Pietro Fontanini were present among others on the occasion.

The ceremony was inaugurated at 12.30 pm by Viktor Maigourov, Vice President of IBU) and Manuela Di Centa (two time Olympic Champion in Lillehammer 1994).

Many previous champions including Giorgio and Pietro Piller Cottrer, Silvio Fauner, Maurilio De Zolt, Fabio Maj, Nathalie and Saskia Santer, Michela Ponza, Johann Passler and Patrick Favre were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
