Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) won the last MotoGP of 2018 at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana, finishing ahead of Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) and Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in a chaotic two-part race that was hugely affected by heavy rain.

The rain caused the red flag to come out after 14 laps after world champion, Marc Marquez and Mavarick Vinales had both fallen, fortunately without suffering serious injury.

The fact that three quarters of the race distance had not been completed meant a second 14-lap race was scheduled with only the 16 riders who were still in the race when it had been stopped allowed to restart.

With the rain falling again Doviziosco was able to take the lead in the 6th lap and with nobody willing to risk another fall, he was able to open up a four-second lead over Rins and Esparago, who claimed his first podium finish.
