Aviation Union (Ilmailualan Unioni - IAU) has announced to abstain from work for six hours on March 31, which will affect the services offered to passengers who require assistance at Helsinki Airport, said a Finavia press release.

The reason for the industrial action is a collective agreement dispute between IAU and the service provider Lassila & Tikanoja.

According to a press release of Finavia, the company that operates the country’s airports, the work stoppage will take place from 5am to 8am and again from 2pm to 5pm on the day.

The service for passengers requiring assistance will be handled during the stoppage by special arrangements. But, in spite of these arrangements, there may be congestion in the service and the situation may cause delays for some flights.

Passengers who have need for assistance services at the time mentioned above are asked to contact their airlines or travel agents well in advance. Advanced registration is important so that special arrangements during the stoppage may be scaled as well as possible.

The potential stoppage does not affect the escort service for children travelling alone or the assistance or escort services subject to charge that have been ordered via the VIP services.
