The nightless nights ended in Finland on early Thursday when the sun set in Utsjoki at 0:59 am after 71 days, reported National broadcaster Yle.

Last time the sun rose at 1:44 am on May 16.

Northernmost part of the country experiences the round the clock daytime during the summer with the sun not setting below the horizon.

For Laplanders, the light and bright summer with 24-hour daylight is a high point of the year with more light to work and play than during the long, dark and bitterly cold winter, said the Yle report.
