The vast majority of the country is covered by a proper snow layer except Uusimaa region and Southwest Finland, said the Met Office.

The rest of the country is covered by snow of up to ten centimetres or more, reported the local media.

In Northern Finland, the snow layer exceeds half a metre. The thickest snow layer of 89 centimetres was measured in Pokka village in Kittilä followed by 87 centimetres measured in Puolanka, Kuopio.

According to the forecast, the snow situation is not about to experience a radical change in the coming days.

The coming days will remain dry and frosty, according to Eveliina Tuovinen from the Met Office.
