The maximum limit for contactless payment was raised from 25 euros to 50 euros at the end of the week, said Finance Finland in a press release.

The changes came to effect on 12.4.2019.

The raise of the limit will begin to appear gradually since the change also requires the stores to update their payment terminals.

"Contactless purchases of over 25 euros may become successful already during the Easter week, however, it is possible that it will be successful only after Easter," said Kirsi Klepp, a Senior Manager at Finance Finland.

All the banks will implement the increased limit for contactless payment in April. Depending on the type of card, there may be differences whether the card in use is credit or debit.
