Finland nominates Stubb as VP of EIP

The government on Thursday decided to nominate former Prime Minister Alexander Stubb, also a former Finance Minister of the country for the post of Vice-President of the European Investment Bank.
The appointment will be valid till August 31, 2019, said a government press release.
“Summer brings a life change. In August, I will go to the European Investment Bank. I am extremely pleased and grateful for the appointment. The new challenges are waiting. At the same time, a kind of return to my roots, the EU,” Stubb expressed his reaction in his facebook after the appointment..
Jan Vapaavuori, who now is the Mayor of the City of Helsinki, was the previous representative of Finland, Sweden, Austria, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the EIB.
According to an agreement among these countries, Finland is entitled to nominate a candidate for Vice-President of the Management Committee for the term that ends on 31 August 2019.
