Finland sees €435m trade deficit in July

The trade balance of the country showed a deficit of 435 million euros in July, which was 384 million euros in the stipulated period of last year, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs.

Calculated from January to July there was a deficit of 290 million euros and under the same period last year, the balance of trade showed a deficit of almost 1.6 billion euros, said a press release of Customs.

According to the preliminary statistics, the value of Finnish exports increased by 0.6 per cent and the value of imports by 1.5 per cent in July year-on-year.

The value of Finnish exports in July was slightly over five billion euros and the value of imports was slightly under 5.5 billion euros.

Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports increased by 3.2 per cent year-on year, while imports decreased by 0.2 per cent.

Exports to EU member states decreased by 3.5 per cent in July while exports to non-EU countries increased by 6.2 per cent year-on-year.

Imports from EU-countries rose by 2.2. per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 0.6 per cent in July.

Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU increased by 1.4 per cent and to non-EU countries by 5.9 per cent.

During the same period, imports from EU member states rose by 0.7 per cent but decreased from other countries by 1.6 per cent.
