Wages, salaries grow by 2.8% in June to August

The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 2.8 per cent greater in the June to August period than in the corresponding period twelve months earlier, according to Statistics Finland’s data.
In August, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy grew by 2.9 per cent from the year before. One year previously in June to August, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy increased by 5.1 per cent.
The wages and salaries sum grew most in the industries of private health and social work (5.1%), other services (3.9%), financial intermediation (3.9 %), private education (3.3 %), trade (2.2%) and manufacturing (1.8%).
The wages and salaries sum of construction declined by 0.8 per cent from the respective time period twelve months earlier.
The wages and salaries sum in the private sector was 2.8 per cent greater in June to August than twelve months earlier.
The wages and salaries sum of the public sector was 3.1 per cent higher in May to July than in the corresponding period one year previously.
In August, the wages and salaries sum in the private sector increased by 3.1 per cent and in July in the public sector by 2.8 per cent from one year earlier. In June to August one year ago, the wages and salaries sum grew by 6.6 per cent in the private sector.
