French shares edge down Monday

French shares lost on Monday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.34 percent, or 17.08 points, to close at 5,012.16 points.

Only 19 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

Mobile phone maker Nokia rose 1.45 percent. Renault, the second-biggest automaker in France, went up 1.37 percent. Food-product corporation Danone gained 1.25 percent.

Oil and gas giant Total went down 1.5 percent. Luxury holding group Kering was down 1.42 percent. French banking giant BNP Paribas lost 1.05 percent.
