Forest industries announce 6-day lockout

The Finnish Forest Industries Federation on Wednesday issued a statement announcing a six-day lockout of mechanical forest industry workers.

The federation said the lock-out will start on December 12 and will last until December 18.

The lock-out is as a result of the Workers' union termination of negotiations on collective bargaining agreement and their announcement of a three-day strike to take place on 9-11 December.

According to the director of the federation Jyrki Hollmén, the Workers' Union has shown reluctance to agree on new working conditions. The aim of the lockout is therefore aimed at drawing back the union back to the negotiation table.
