Trade balance posts €5m surplus in October

The trade balance was in surplus EUR 5 million in October, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs.
In January-October, the trade balance had a deficit of EUR 840 million. In October last year, the trade balance showed a deficit of EUR 242 million and a deficit of EUR 2.5 billion in January-October.
the value of Finland’s exports of goods was nearly EUR 5.7 billion in October. The value of exports was 2.2 per cent lower than in October last year.
Imports fell by 6.2 per cent in October and the value was just under EUR 5.7 billion.
In January-October, the total value of exports increased by 2.2 per cent, while the value of total imports decreased by 0.9 per cent from last year.
In October, exports to the EU countries decreased by 3.1 per cent and imports from the EU countries fell by 7.8 per cent.
At the same time, exports to countries outside the EU fell by 0.8 per cent and imports from countries outside the EU by 3.5 per cent.
In January-October, exports to EU countries grew by one per cent and exports to non-EU countries by 3.9 per cent. Over the same period, imports from EU countries increased by 0.8 per cent, but imports from outside the EU fell by 3.3 per cent.
