Viking Line continues cargo service on main freight routes

The cruise vessel operator Viking Line continues to operate on its most important routes, despite the current situation and concerns about the coronavirus, said a press release.

Taking the security of supply for Finland and Åland as well as the cargo transport demands into consideration, the cruise ship operator will continue freight traffic between Helsinki and Tallinn as well as on the Turku–Åland–Stockholm route.

Viking Line follows the instructions of the Finnish and Estonian authorities under the state of emergency prevailing in Finland with restrictions imposed on cross-border traffic.

“To safeguard the security of supply between Finland and Sweden, we are maintaining service on a section of our routes. We are grateful for the understanding our cargo customers have shown us in this exceptional situation. We hope that the situation will normalise as soon as possible,” said Viking Line Freight Director Harri Tamminen.

Viking Line’s service on the Turku–Åland–Stockholm route will continue as before with a minor change made to the route of M/S Viking Grace and M/S Amorella as of March 21.

The daytime stopover in Åland will take place in Långnäs instead of Mariehamn.

In addition, the freight operator’s traffic on the Helsinki-Tallinn route will continue with fewer departures.
