Trade balance posts €190m surplus in April

The trade balance was EUR 190 million in surplus in April, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs.
In January-April, the trade balance ran a deficit of almost EUR 1.2 billion, said a Customs press release on Monday.
In April last year, the trade balance was EUR 320 million in deficit and in January-April it was EUR 45 million in surplus.
The value of Finnish exports decreased by 19.8 per cent, while the value of imports decreased by 27.5 per cent in April year-on-year.
The value of Finnish exports in April was EUR 4.4 billion and the value of imports was EUR 4.2 billion.
In January-April, the total value of exports decreased by 14.5 per cent and the value of imports by 9.3 per cent year-on-year.
Exports to EU member states decreased by 21.5 per cent and exports to non-EU countries by 17.9 per cent in April.
Imports from EU-countries diminished by 27.7 per cent and imports from non-EU countries fell by 27.1 per cent in April.
Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU decreased by 14.9 per cent and to non-EU countries by 14.0 per cent. During the same period, imports from EU member states fell by 8.0 per cent and from other countries by 11.2 per cent.
