Eurozone unemployment rate falls to 9.1% in June

The unemployment rate in the eurozone in June dropped to 9.1 percent from 9.2 percent in May, recorded as the lowest since February 2009, Eurostat said on Monday.

In the wider EU, the unemployment rate was 7.7 percent in June, stable compared to the precious month and down from 8.6 percent in June last year. This recorded the lowest rate since December 2008.

Among the members, the lowest unemployment rates in June 2017 were recorded in the Czech Republic at 2.9 percent, Germany at 3.8 percent and Malta at 4.1 percent.

The highest unemployment rates were observed in Greece at 21.7 percent and the highest rate of youth unemployment at 45.5 percent,and the figures refer to April--the latest data available for the country.

The second highest unemployment rate was 17.1 percent in Spain from 19.9 percent a year earlier.

Spain also recorded as the second highest level of youth unemployment at 39.2 percent.
