The national postal and logistic services operator Posti handled a record number of 1.5 million parcels in the Black Friday week, said a press release on Monday.
The previous weekly record was set in the Christmas week last year.
Meanwhile, Posti’s Christmas season has started earlier this year than in the previous years and it is estimated that the record will be broken again later this year.
“The popularity of Black Friday has grown annually and has now extended to a week of discounts. There has also been a sharp increase in the online shopping activity of Finns due to the coronavirus situation,” said Posti Parcel and eCommerce Vice President Tommi Kässi, adding that Posti hired about 2,500 Christmas season workers across the country for the peak season.
