The country’s airports operator Finavia on Tuesday said it is going to cut 110 jobs as a part of its saving programme undertaken in the wake of the adverse impacts of coronavirus outbreak, said the company in a press release.

Meanwhile, co-determination talks with its subsidiary Airpro are going on, posing the threat of 350 redundancies.

“The coronavirus hit our company hard, which led us to take such difficult and sad decisions. We will have to reduce skilled aviation professionals who have done a good and valuable job,” said Finavia CEO Kimmo Mäki.

The structural changes and streamlining are essential, as it may take several years to overcome the collapse of air traffic situation, said the company, adding that it aims to save EUR 200 million.

The co-determination talks started with an aim to axe a total of 480 jobs at Finavia and Airpro.

The negotiation at Finavia has been completed while that at Airpro continues.

Finavia appointed 2,775 employees last year for the operation and maintenance of 21 airports in the country.
