Real estate maintenance costs fall slightly in Q3

Real estate maintenance costs fell by 0.2 per cent in the third quarter of 2020 compared to the corresponding period of 2019, according to Statistics Finland.
Of the cost items of the index of real estate maintenance, administration costs increased most, by 2.8 per cent. Water supply, sewerage and waste management costs grew by 2.0 per cent and repair costs by 0.9 per cent.
Heating costs went down by 1.7 per cent and electricity costs by 0.1 per cent. Use and maintenance costs fell by 0.7 per cent, cleaning costs by 2.5 per cent and insurance against loss or damage by 0.8 per cent.
Examined by type of building, maintenance costs of residential blocks of flats rose by 0.4 per cent and those of office buildings remained unchanged.
The maintenance costs of day care centre buildings fell by 0.9 per cent, those of school buildings by 1.0 per cent and those of health care centres by 1.1 per cent.
The maintenance costs of wholesale and retail trade buildings went down by 0.2 per cent and those of industrial buildings by 1.3 per cent year-on-year.
The total index of real estate maintenance fell by 0.7 per cent from the previous quarter.
