The 5th edition of the Petrochemical and Refining Congress (PRC): Europe will be held in the Finnish capital City Helsinki on 17-19 May this year.

The PRC: Europe, which takes place in a new country every year, represents cutting-edge technologies and solutions from companies that actively implement net-zero, sustainability, and circular economy approaches in O&G operations.

The event will be held in partnership with Neste Corporation, where the Daily Finland has been chosen from among many media to be the local media partner of the C-level Congress, said the organisers in a press release on Wednesday.

The 2010s have seen an increase in demand for plastics, packaging, clothes, gadgets, fertilisers, medical equipment, and production of other types of petrochemical goods. But as the refineries want to meet the demand, they also need to continue with the processes of adaptation to future goals efficiently.

“Downstream players have faced market instability last year, which led to the price drop, job losses, and new projects postponement. In 2021, there will be time for industry recovery, and every refinery will be looking forward to improving their production within the net-zero carbon future goals. And there is no definite answer to which methods should be used for that and what challenges the players will face on the way,“ said Project Director Regina Chislova.

The PRC Europe is co-hosted with Neste Corporation. Together with NAPCON, they invite participants to join the 3rd day of the Congress dedicated to Technological site-visitation to the Porvoo Refinery Technology located in Kilpilahti Industrial area. Delegates will learn more about one of Europe’s most advanced and versatile refineries through the presentation by Neste technical managers.

The race for productivity gains momentum and the downstream market’s major players are looking forward to the chemical recycling, smart technologies, and sustainable operations to have more resources on their side.
