Turnover of construction firms on wane

The fall in working day-adjusted turnover and sales volume of construction enterprises continued in December last year, according to the Statistics Finland.

The turnover adjusted for working days went down by 3.7 per cent compared to that in the year before.

The volume of sales, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, fell by 3.3 per cent.

Among construction industries, turnover and sales volume declined in building construction and specialised construction activities. In civil engineering, turnover and sales volume continued to grow strongly.

Seasonally-adjusted turnover in building construction fell in December by 9.8 per cent and sales volume by 10.1 per cent compared to that of one year ago.

Working day-adjusted turnover in civil engineering grew by 15.9 per cent and sales volume by 13.9 per cent year on year.

The working day adjusted turnover of specialised construction activities fell by 2.6 per cent and sales volume by 2.8 per cent year on year.
