Posti package deliveries hit record level in 2020

National postal and logistic services operator Posti, improved its operating result in 2020 to 66.1 million euros, up from 36.2 million euros in 2019, reported Xinhua, quoting a press release on Wednesday.

Analysts said the remarkable growth is due to the huge increase in parcel deliveries partially caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the press release, the season from Black Friday broke all records, as 7.7 million parcels were delivered by Posti. And its Q4 business result increased from 4.4 million euros in 2019 to 33.5 million euros in 2020.

CEO Turkka Kuusisto said, however, online purchases in Finland would possibly not grow in 2021 as in 2020, while predicted that the "fast change" in the mail services will continue.

The amount of traditional addressed letters in 2020 declined three percent from 2019.

Kuusisto said Posti will invest further in package delivery automat and distribution.
