Trade balance shows €300m deficit in January

The trade balance stood at EUR 300 million in deficit in January, which was EUR 295 million in January 2020, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs.

The value of Finnish exports decreased by 10.6 per cent, while the value of imports declined by 9.9 per cent in January year on year, said Customs in a press release on Wednesday.

The value of Finnish exports in January was EUR 4.4 billion and the value of imports EUR 4.7 billion.

Exports to EU member states declined 10.0 per cent and exports to non-EU countries 11.3 per cent in January.

Imports from EU countries declined by 7.3 per cent and from non-EU countries by 13.2 per cent, added the press release.
