Trade balance posts €305m deficit in March

The trade balance was EUR 305 million in deficit in March, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs.
In January-March, the trade balance ran a deficit of EUR 985 million. In March 2020, the trade balance was EUR 345 million in deficit, and in January-March it was EUR 1.4 billion in deficit.
According to the statistics, the value of Finnish exports increased by 12.5 per cent, and the value of imports by 11.0 per cent in March year-on-year.
The value of Finnish exports in March was EUR 5.7 billion and the value of imports EUR 6.0 billion.
In January-March, the total value of exports increased by 3.6 per cent and the value of imports by 0.6 per cent year-on-year.
Exports to EU member states increased by 7.6 per cent and exports to non-EU countries by 19.0 per cent in March.
Imports from EU countries increased by 8.5 per cent and imports from non-EU countries increased by 15.0 per cent.
Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU countries rose by 3.0 per cent and to non-EU countries by 4.5 per cent.
During the same period, imports from EU member states rose by 0.3 per cent and from other countries by 1.1 per cent.
