The 5th anniversary edition of the closed-door Petrochemical and Refining Congress (PRC): Europe, co-hosted by Neste, was successfully held on the BGS Online Platform on May 17-19.

In the course of the first two days of the congress, delegates were tackling the most relevant downstream issues by attending sessions and taking part in B2B meetings organised with the help of a personal manager.

The third day was dedicated to virtual technological site showcase and a networking closing party. Neste’s top-level discussion panel was followed by the NAPCON’s presentation of digital sustainable solutions, including plant operators’ training and refinery optimisation based on machine learning.

The day was wrapped up by a virtual tour into one of Europe’s cutting-edge facilities – the Porvoo Refinery Technology Centre operated by Neste. A realistic 3D model of the site was used to conduct the demonstration.

The 3rd day‘s sponsor NAPCON– a brand within Neste –– presented its NAPCON Advisor, the industry’s most proficient Machine-Learning-based solution for crude column on-line yield optimisation which provides decision support for production personnel.

Taking advantage of the most advanced technologies, such as AI/ML, and industrial IoT as well as digital twin, NAPCON Advisor predicts the future behaviour of the crude column process in real time and produces operational suggestions through what-if scenarios, enabling personnel to intuitively envision the production process and make optimal decisions. Making an impact on safety and human skill development today, NAPCON Advisor creates room for Smart Refinery tomorrow.

The Congress was a gathering point for leading European oil companies, EPCs, refineries, chemical companies, licensors, equipment manufacturers, and service providers.

More than 500 delegates participated in the congress to address the vital topics of today’s downstream sector: energy transition, sustainability in downstream operations, refinery and petrochemical integration, as well as circular economy issues.

The Daily Finland was the local media partner of the Petrochemical and Refining Congress.

Neste Сorporation continues to support the Petrochemical & Refining Congress: Europe and will co-host it for the second consecutive year.

PRC Europe 2022 takes place in Helsinki, Finland on 30-31 May, 2022.
