Customs invites 2 operators to select cryptocurrency broker

Finnish Customs has invited two cryptocurrency brokers with the view to find an operator through competitive negotiated procedure, who safely and reliably can carry out the sale of cryptocurrencies forfeited to the State.

The negotiations with the chosen candidates as well as the publication of the final call for tenders from the candidates participating in the negotiations are planned for before the end of this year, said the Finnish Customs in a press release on Tuesday.

The Customs invited Coinmotion Oy and Tesseract Group Oy to participate in the negotiated procedure.

Both the chosen operators are registered in the register of cryptocurrency service providers, they have experience in the brokerage of large lots of cryptocurrencies and they have demonstrated in their applications procedures for preventing money laundering and for checking the buyer’s background.

Earlier in July, Customs published a request to participate where businesses providing cryptocurrency brokerage services were requested to announce their willingness to participate in the competitive negotiated procedure for the procurement.

Within the time limit, seven operators announced their willingness to participate in the competitive negotiated procedure. Now two of the candidates have been invited to participate in the negotiations.
