The online banking service of Nordea has been disrupting following a denial-of-service attack from Monday evening, said Nordea on Wednesday.
“Some of Nordea’s services disrupted after an external attack. Some customers have experienced issues with logging in to our services due to a denial-of-service attack. We have been able to secure our services and you are now able to log in to our mobile and online banking services again. However, there may be some slowness with our services,” said Nordea, adding, ”we apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced.”
The bank authority in its website informed on Tuesday the clients about the temporary disturbance in authentication.
“Due to a temporary failure, customers cannot use Nordea’s access codes or code app to identify themselves in Netbank, mobile bank or other service providers’ services,” said Nordea in the notification on Tuesday.
This also means that customers cannot log in to Nordea’s services with the identification means of other banks or to services of companies using Nordea identification brokering service, the notification added.
“The issue started late Monday evening (Feb 28th). The root cause is being investigated. Currently some customers might be experiencing slowness in banking services, but we are working on fixing the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience,” an official of the Nordea communication unit informed Daily Finland on Tuesday afternoon.
