Fewer goods transported by lorries in 2021

Lorries transported 255 million tonnes of goods in domestic transport in 2021, which was two per cent lower than in the year before, according to Statistics Finland.

The transport performance, in turn, decreased by one per cent and amounted to 27.6 billion tonne-kilometres.

The volume of transported goods has decreased evenly since 2018.

Both the volume of transported goods and the transport performance decreased slightly in 2021 compared with the previous year.

Nearly 40 per cent of the annual volume of goods were transported with vehicle combinations with a total weight of over 68 tonnes.
