The regular electricity production of the Olkiluoto 3 (OL3) nuclear power plant unit will start in September this year, instead of the previously estimated start at the end of July, operator of the plant Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) said in a press release on Friday.
Inspection and repair needs concerning the cooling system of OL3’s generator will last about three weeks.
The plant unit’s test production programme and electricity production will continue after the repair work.
Furthermore, additional time has been reserved in the schedule for the plant unit’s upcoming testing and their analyses based on previous experiences from the test production phase.
The inspection and possible repair needs of the generator’s cooling system are not related to the information given earlier this week about the boron pumps turning on unexpectedly and related automation modifications.
The OL3 EPR plant supplier consortium is constructing the plant unit under a fixed-price turnkey contract.
The supplier consortium companies, AREVA GmbH, AREVA NP SAS, and Siemens AG, have joint and several liability for the contractual obligations until the end of the guarantee period of the plant unit, the press release added.
