Number of long-term unemployed job seekers grows further

The number of unemployed job seekers in 2021 was 271,900, for 39 % of whom unemployment had lasted continuously for at least a year, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of long-term unemployed grew by 16 % compared to 2021 and by 68 % compared to 2019.

In turn, the number of all unemployed persons fell by 23 % from the year before, whereby their total number was 351,600.

The data on unemployment in the employment statistics are based on the data of the Register of Job Seekers of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
