Trade balance shows €900m deficit in April

The trade balance was in deficit of EUR 900 million in April, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs on Tuesday.

In January-April, the aggregated deficit amounted to EUR 4.3 billion. In April 2021, the trade balance was EUR 265 million in deficit and in January-April of the same year, the aggregated deficit was EUR 1.4 billion.

The value of Finnish exports increased by 22.9 per cent, and the value of imports by 33.1 per cent in April year-on-year.

The value of Finnish exports in April was EUR 6.6 billion and the value of imports EUR 7.5 billion.

During the reference month in 2021 exports increased by 20.3per cent and imports by 31.8 per cent.

In January-April 2021, the total value of exports increased by 22.6 per cent and the value of imports by 34.7 per cent year-on-year.

Exports to EU member states increased by 33.3 per cent, and exports to non-EU countries by 10.5 per cent in April.

Imports from EU countries increased by 18.2 per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 56.4 per cent.

Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU countries rose by 29.4 per cent and to non-EU countries by 14.2 per cent.

During the same period, imports from EU member states rose by 22.9 per cent and from other countries by 52.0 per cent.
