Number of enterprises closure ups, opening slides in Q1

The number of enterprise closures grew by 22 per cent in the first quarter of 2022 from one year ago, according to Statistics Finland.

There were 10,867 enterprise closures from January to March in 2022.

At the same time, enterprise openings numbered 11,665. In the first quarter of 2022, the number of enterprise openings was eight per cent lower than one year earlier.

Among the large industries, the number of enterprise closures increased most in manufacturing compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
