More enterprises open in country in Q2

The number of enterprise openings increased by 1.9 per cent in the second quarter of 2017 from the respective quarter of the year before, according to Statistics Finland.

According to Statistics Finland, there were 7,309 enterprise openings in the first quarter of 2017. Enterprise openings increased by 1.9 per cent from the second quarter of 2016, when they numbered 7,171. Enterprise openings accounted for 2.0 per cent of the total stock of enterprises in the second quarter of 2017.

Examined by industry, the number of enterprise openings was highest in professional, scientific and technical activities, where they numbered 1,166, or 16.0 per cent of all enterprise openings in the second quarter. In construction, enterprise openings numbered 1 017 (13.9%) and in trade 980 (13.4%). Compared to the second quarter of 2016, the number of enterprise openings decreased most in trade (-112).
