Trade balance posts €1.3b deficit in July

The trade balance was in deficit of EUR 1.3 billion in July, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs.

In January-July, the aggregated deficit amounted to EUR 7.6 billion. In July 2021, the trade balance was EUR 428 million in deficit and in January-July of the same year, the aggregated deficit was EUR 2.3 billion.

The value of Finnish exports increased by 17.5 per cent, and the value of imports by 30.1 per cent in July year-on-year.

The value of Finnish exports in July was EUR 6.5 billion and the value of imports EUR 7.8 billion. During the reference month in 2021 exports increased by 24.8 per cent and imports by 21.7 per cent.

In January-July 2021, the total value of exports increased by 24.0 per cent and the value of imports by 36.1 per cent year-on-year.

Exports to EU member states increased by 19.6 per cent, and exports to non-EU countries by 15.1 per cent in July.

Imports from EU countries increased by 20.0 per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 43.3 per cent.

Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU countries rose by 30.5 per cent and to non-EU countries by 16.0 per cent.

During the same period, imports from EU member states rose by 23.7 per cent and from other countries by 54.5 per cent.
