Industrial output grows slightly in August

Seasonally adjusted industrial output (TOL BCD) grew by 0.5 per cent in August from the month before, according to Statistics Finland.

Industrial output adjusted for working days was 2.3 per cent higher in August 2022 than in August 2021.

Compared to one year ago, output decreased most in the electrical and electronics industry, by 14.3 per cent.

Among the examined main industries, seasonally adjusted industrial output grew in August most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 7.6 per cent from the month before.

Output in mining and quarrying increased by 6.1 per cent and in the forest industry by 3.4 per cent from July.

Output fell most from the previous month in the electrical and electronics industry, by 5.1 per cent. In the chemical industry, output decreased by 2.6 per cent and in the food industry by 0.6 per cent compared to July.

Compared to one year ago, output grew most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and in the electrical and electronic industry, both up by 8.0 per cent.

In the forest industry, output grew by 4.9 per cent and in the metal industry by 4.4 per cent. Output decreased in other main industries from one year ago. The biggest drop, 14.3 per cent, was recorded in the electrical and electronics industry.
